Meet Grayson, the winner of OMK’s Courageous Kids of 2020 Contest in the U.S. Navy Reserve category! Grayson, 9, is the son of an U.S. Navy Reservist who was deployed overseas in 2020.

“Grayson turned nine the day before the shutdown,” said Grayson’s mother, Jessica. “His dad was deployed and he was crushed. He has Autism and took it personally that he couldn’t have a party. However, we found an activity to boost his spirits. He found #golf and took to it because it’s more of an individual sport. With the help of Our Military Kids, Grayson was able to participate at great lengths to really learn the game. Grayson was so excited to surprise his dad with his new skill and now they love to play together. I’m so proud of him and his brother and sister for how they handled such a big, grown-up situation. He showed so much resilience and lots of grace to me!”
